Carol Spence
Carol Spence qualified as an Oral Hygienist in 2002 from the University of the Witwatersrand.
During her clinical work in a leading Prosthodontic practice, she developed a keen interest in advanced digital radiography and virtual surgical planning. She has undertaken various training in computerized tomography and digital manipulation. Subsequently, she established her own business in Computerised Tomography (CT) Manipulation, Surgical Simulation, Medical Rapid Prototyping, and Surgical Guide Fabrication
She has presented papers and posters at numerous congresses such as the Dental Technology Association of South Africa (DENTASA), South African Dental Association (SADA), Rapid Product Development Association of South Africa (RAPDASA), and Esteq as well as participated in the Materialise Innovation Awards 2009, 2010 and 2011. She received a commendation at the SADA congress 2011 for her poster presentation.
She worked for the P-I Brånemark Institute South Africa in research training, Finite Element Analysis, CT Manipulation, and Craniofacial Rehabilitation.
In 2017 she participated in the Hands-on 3D surgical planning for orthognathic surgery (Dr. William Arnett, Madrid, Spain)
Carol and Jacintha received personal training in the Orthognathic software, Dolphin, in 2019. They have taken part in multiple local and international training courses over the years, including specialized Orthognathic training courses by leading surgeons. She has also participated as well as presented at the Masterclass for Orthognathic Surgery course by Prof Reyneke and Prof Ferretti.
